SECTION 1: COUNSELS PERTAINING TO SONSHIP | Rule 1

Section 1 | Rule #1: Regarding the Foundation of the Custos’ Life and Mission

Let the Custos understand that his entire vocation, and in fact his entire life, and his very salvation depend upon him believing, receiving, embracing and trusting that God is his Father, and that he is God’s son in the Son of God; that God has chosen him for His own; that God loves  him for who he is and not for what he has done or will do; and that God wills to perfect him in His love. The foundation of the Custos’ mission is his identity as a trusting son of God the Father. By trusting that God is his Father, and that God the Father’s love is all-sufficient, he will become capable of enduring life’s storms and tempests without falling prey to doubting the goodness of God. The Custos understands that all tests are allowed by God for the purpose of strengthening his trust in God his Father and securing this filial trust deeply and permanently. This identity–the trusting son of God the Father–embraced and well lived, will enable him to be drawn by God, and to draw others to God, and to his and their ultimate destiny: communion and union with the Most Blessed Trinity for all eternity.
